About the Event
Please join us at the 2022 Equality Florida Suncoast Celebration, where we'll
commemorate our 25 years in the fight for equality! We hope to see you at this
year's event to learn about the progress we've made in Florida and what's ahead
on the journey to full LGBTQ equality.Â
This year's Celebration will feature heavy
hors d'oeuvres, open bars, a silent and live auction, an inspiring message from
Equality Florida's Executive Director Nadine Smith, and live entertainment by
Jami Gee and her band. Also during the evening, we'll recognize local individuals
who have made outstanding contributions to LGBTQ equality.
Costume attire is suggested and encouraged! Accessible venue

Celebrating a Leader in Advancing LGTBQ Equality
2022 Voice for Equality Award Honoree
Zander Moricz is the youngest public plaintiff in
the "Don't Say LGBTQ" lawsuit against the state
of Florida, as well as the founder and executive
director of the Social Equitu and Education
Initiative. Since 2019, Zander has grown the SEE
Initiative into a movement of over 1,000 Floridian
organizers, leading the state's student response
to hateful legislation. With a current focus on the
"Don't Say LGBTQ" law, Zander has given analyses
on CNN and MSNBC as well as testimony to the
Florida Senate. As the president of the Board at
Florida Model United Nations, Florida's largest
independent Model UN program, Zander created an aid fund that established
dozens of MUN programs in Title I schools and provides them with coaching,
curriculum, and financial support. He is also the Central-Eastern director of
communications for Diversify Our Narrative, a national organization with more
than 6,000 organizers.
Equality Florida is grateful for the commitment Zander has shown to
LGBTQ students in Florida and is proud to recognize him with this honor!
