Position Summary -
The Executive Director (ED), reporting to the Board of Directors is the chief leader and fundraiser for Project Pride SRQ (PPSRQ). Responsible for driving the organization's mission, vision, and strategic direction, the ED ensures the successful execution of programs, events, community engagement and fund-raising initiatives. This individual will build and nurture key relationships, develop sustainable funding sources, and lead a strong team of volunteers and prospective staff to further PPSRQ’s impact within the communities it serves.
We seek an accomplished leader with at least 3-5-years of executive-level leadership experience within the nonprofit sector, preferably in the LGBTQ+ space with a proven track record in fundraising/ development, strategic growth, program development and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Organizational Strategy

Serve as the chief advocate of PPSRQ, effectively representing the organization to stakeholders, partners, donors, media, and the broader community.

Develop, implement, and oversee strategic initiatives in conjunction with the Board that align with PPSRQ’s mission, ensuring measurable impact and long-term sustainability.

Actively recruit, engage, and energize volunteers, prospective staff and funders to expand PPSRQ’s reach and effectiveness.

Support a high-functioning Board of Directors, serving as an ex-officio member on the Board and all committees.

Establish effective metrics and reporting tools for reporting to the Board and various stakeholders to track overall progress, including fund raising, events and programs.

Cultivate and lead an organizational culture that is inclusive, mission-driven, and results-oriented.
Fundraising & Financial Management

Develop, lead and execute a diversified fundraising strategy, including corporate sponsorships, individual giving, major gifts, grants, and special events.

Develop long-term, sustainable revenue streams to ensure the financial health and expansion of PPSRQ.

Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic institutions.

Oversee grant writing and funding applications to secure new revenue opportunities.

Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and manage an annual budget and short- and long-term financial and strategic plan.

Ensure financial integrity by maintaining proper internal controls, compliance with regulations, and transparent reporting.
Community Engagement & Advocacy

Serve as the liaison between PPSRQ and the broader community, including LGBTQ+ organizations, government entities, corporate partners, and the media.

Strengthen and expand partnerships with local and national organizations to enhance the visibility and impact of PPSRQ.

Oversee and enhance PPSRQ’s brand, ensuring clear and compelling communication across all platforms, including social media, press, and community events.

Lead robust outreach efforts and community engagement activities to foster a sense of belonging and inclusion.
Operations & Team Development

Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure effective execution of programs, fundraising efforts, and community initiatives.

Lead, mentor, key volunteers and a small staff team providing guidance and accountability to drive the organization’s success.

Support Board of Directors

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as grant and contract requirements.

Develop and implement systems and processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and impact.
Ideal Qualifications & Experience
-
At least 3-5 years of executive-level leadership experience within a nonprofit organization, preferably within the LGBTQ+ space with a demonstrated ability to drive strategic growth and sustainability.

Deep knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community and a passion for advancing equality, inclusion, and visibility.

Proven track record in fundraising, donor relations, and securing major gifts and grants.

Strong experience in board governance, volunteer management, and community engagement.

Excellent leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and mobilize diverse stakeholders.

Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience as a spokesperson for an organization.

Experience managing budgets, financial planning, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulations.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, for events and board meetings.
