UNITY in CommUNITY

As we sign off to 2025 let’s focus on the brave possibilities of 2026. We have been busy at Project Pride SRQ, so look for more Pop-up Trivia nights, Pop-up Piano Bar Sing Along evenings, Pop-up dance nights, meet the authors, Movie Screenings, Diverse Perspectives panel discussions, Silver Pride, and Gulf Coast Pride! 

You can also expect to see Advocacy and Rights protection themes interwoven into our events and gatherings. As we meet, get to know each other, make new friends, and strengthen existing bonds, please remember we are under attack.  So many times, I have heard “that can never happen here”.  Our transgender brothers and sisters are experiencing loss of rights, loss of healthcare, and loss of legal protections.   Women’s have lost the right to govern their own bodies, protect their very lives, and their families’ futures.  It is entirely possible that homosexuality can become outlawed.  That can happen here!   

Our time in 2026 together will be to find UNITY in CommUNITY.  Yes, stronger unity within the LGTBQ+ community but unity within our overall Sarasota Community.  So many families and allies have LGTBQ+ family members. There is strength in numbers and there is support we don’t even know we have. Let’s find it and build it together!
